Off the beaten track

January 7th, 2008

I got a really nice present for Christmas. After coming to an agreement with my girlfriend that this Christmas we wouldn’t spend money on any presents and that we would spend more time with family instead of shopping, she found a way of giving me something special by telling her mother what to get me for Christmas (cheater), a book called “Come to Finland“. Since I heard about it and seen some images early last year I wanted to at least give it a look.

“Off the beaten track” is a phrase that is in some of the posters and its meaning have to do with not traveling to the same old places and trying something different like Finland. After 8 months here I can say that Finland is different and worth visiting and Nature is not the only good thing here. This is one of the most beautiful books I ever had and I can assure you, a designer treasure.

Come to Finland

“As you can see from the pictures, every poster was a labour of love - and early proof of the Finnish passion for graphical design. Furthermore, these posters documents the golden age of travelling.”
